Choose two teams; the [BracketMatrix] will analyze the resulting game.
What is this?
This is the [BracketMatrix], an advanced mathematical model of college basketball, designed to help you predict the outcomes of future games.
We are extraordinarily grateful to Ken Pomeroy for making available his database of games. His hard work has made possible our forecasting model.
And our forecasting model is based around a simple, but powerful, idea:
A team's strength is measured by the strength of the teams it has defeated.
The key observation is that this definition is recursive: to compute the strength of a team, you must first compute the strength of all other teams—the strengths of which require the computation of the strength of the team in question! It might seem impossible to overcome this obstacle, but linear algebra is extraordinarily powerful.
